Welcome to Wilderness Experiences
Wilderness experiences has been registered with Ofsted since 2001 as a mobile children's Home, based in Carlisle, Cumbria on the edge of the Lake District National Park and just south of the border with Scotland.
We are registered for young people of either gender with emotional and behavioural difficulties for a maximum of 17 weeks. We are able to accommodate up to 5 young people on a single occupancy basis with 2 members of staff working with each young person.
Crisis placements are provided for and facilitation of emergency placements subject to the completion of all necessary paperwork.
Young People staying with Wilderness Experiences can be collected from anywhere in the UK as part of the service.
Local authorities use Wilderness Experiences for the following services.
- Emergency / Crisis Placement
- Alternative to secure accommodation
- Interim placements for young people exiting secure accommodation
- Respite
- Interim placement until a planned long term placement is identified
