Our Approach

At the point of referral we agree with the placing authority what the initial objectives of the placement are, and the overall objectives, dependent upon the length of the placement and the needs of the young person.

Each young person will be assigned a Key Worker to oversee the placement and they will be responsible for coordinating each young person’s care plan and liaising with the placing authority, parents and all other external agencies involved with young person’s care.

Each young person will have a team of staff that will work with them throughout the duration of the placement to ensure as much consistency as possible.

Care plans and risk assessments are updated on a regular basis, as and when required throughout the placement to reflect the needs of the young person.

Upon admission we explain to each young person how Wilderness experiences operates and how the service is here support them and help them to achieve their own personal goals. We strongly believe it is very important for each young person to understand and feel involved in their placement with us in order for them to engage fully with the placement.
